Cognitive Intelligence is an extremely important line (or type of intelligence) because without development in this line there are severe limits into the capacity one can grow in others. An example is that cognitive development is required to develop morally (to take another person’s perspectives, thus understand them and have compassion for them) but cognitive development does not mean a person will automatically have moral development (nazi doctors). But someone who is very morally developed will always have high cognitive development (Martin Luther King)
There are three types of Lines (or Intelligences):
Cognitive - awareness and perspective taking ability (not confined to physical waking state)
Self-Related - this includes self-identity, moral, needs, values, emotional and interpersonal
Talents / Capacities / Skills - can be developed across a wide range

This graph marks some of the most important lines of development, how to inquire about them, the key researcher and how to test your development in them. This graph is taken from PSYCHOGRAPH AS MAP, MATRIX, AND MIRROR, An Integral Psychograph Assessment by

Development can be a complicated affair. The next graph shows the levels (or stages) of development that various lines go through. Its a serious handful of information but made of gold. For more information read up on Ken Wilber (link to wikipedia) and his Integral Theory.
