What is Happiness?
Happiness occurs when one is satisfied with what is. In the present moment. It is possible to be happy anywhere at anytime with anyone doing anything. What matters is one's attitude towards the situation. A positive outlook, which consists of gratitude and the feeling of opportunity. Active Happiness occurs when one is enjoying an activity not because of the reward of its completion but because one enjoys the process, the state has been referred to as Flow. Which occurs when one is fully focused on an activity, time seems to fly by and challenges are overcome. Emotions are signals to let you know how your doing, happiness lets you know your kicking ass.
What can be done to bring about happiness?
Absolute Ecstasy is our natural state. However, other emotions occur to inform us of problems needing our attention so awareness of your current state will bring you close to yourself.
Dissatisfied - I don't want to be doing this, I rather do that.
Spinoza said that were only as happy as what we love. So if your interests aren't going to bring you satisfaction then find some new ones. But if you have to be doing what you are doing and there is nothing that can be done your only choice is to accept what is. To be okay with what you are doing and try to make the most of it.
